Staff

Hello,

I am the Program Director and Founder of Northampton Girls' Town After School Program. I am extremely proud to say that this program appears to be the first all girls after school program in Northampton, MA. My passion for children, teaching and human rights inspired me to create this new and unique program. The last 20+ years of my life has been dedicated to teaching, protecting children and empowering others.

My B.A. in Human Development, Masters degree in Social Work combined with my political involvements and social action (grass roots organizing, fund raising, community education, volunteerism and lobbying) empowered me to develop this after school program. I have worked for many years in diverse settings with different populations. My teaching experience, evaluating and supervising (both adults and children) provides a foundation. To understand different learning styles, cultural differences, language barriers and what a student's basic educational, individual and social needs might be. I have also provided emergency on-call services (re:children's and adults' mental health and safety) for years in hospitals, treatment facilities and shelters. I am certified in both First Aid/CPR. Teaching and social work have always been my passion.

Thank you for your interest in Northampton Girls' School Program.

Sincerely,

Melinda Morgan Hermanson, MSW,
Program Director, Founder
