Mission Statement

The primary mission of Northampton Girls' Town After School Program (A.S.P.) is to empower girls, ages 5-12. We will develop our own group and organization, by participating in age appropriate, culturally diverse and fun activities. Feeling safe in our positive and welcoming community is a priority. This after school program offers participants a shared enthusiasm for learning about both herself and others, emphasizing her connections to the world. This often generates much discussion and motivation for her continued intellectual, emotional, spiritual and physical growth. Hopefully, our shared positive and healthy adult expectations for these girls' can also become their own expectations, by helping girls to be self-determined, respectful and independent at home, in school and in society. We will support and encourage her to be confident, intelligent and caring. To understand that accepting differences is learned and feeling physically strong is healthy. We help guide her, to take individual responsibility and ownership of who she is, and who she thinks about becoming. Building positive self-esteem is crucial for her to feel both happy and successful.
